A key challenge for efficient wave energy converters is to transform the typical bi-directional, reciprocating movement induced by the waves into electricity in an efficient, flexible and robust way.
This project evaluated the gains in terms of efficiency, flexibility and robustness of an electro-mechanical PTO system which transforms the bi-directional movement into a uni-directional rotation that can easily be fed to a generator.
