Stage
Stage 1
Project Lead
Marine Design International Ltd
Project Sub-Contractors
4c Design Ltd
This project investigated the feasibility of technology transfer from the automotive industry to the wave energy sector. In recent years, great advances have been made in the development of highly reliable, efficient and low cost drive train technology for the growing electric vehicle market.
The NEAPED project used the latest mass produced electric vehicle technology as the basis for a wave energy PTO. The objective was to transfer 'best in class' automotive performance, efficiency and reliability to deliver a step change reduction in the levelised cost of energy of wave energy converters.
